What is your responsibility?

You are an anthropologist and you have just discovered the tribe in the above photo while flying over the Amazon Rainforest. This tribe has never had any contact with the outside world. What is your responsibility to that tribe? Do you find a place to land your plane and introduce them to the modern world with all its benefits and problems or do you leave them alone and do everything you can to protect their isolation? Make sure you explain your answer.

I would leave the tribe alone and do everything that I can to protect their isolation. This is because the tribe was obviously doing fine on its own, since the people there are still alive. It doesn't look like they need much help by themselves. Also, they have their own culture. They have different clothing, shelter, and other things then we do, and that makes them different from everyone else. I think that being different is good, and they shouldn't have to change their religion, homes, clothing, views on life, or anything, just to fit in with us. The tribe should be able to live the way that they are and be different, and let no one stand in their way. If other people see that tribe, or anyone else, with a different culture, they shouldn't judge them either, because we are all people, we're all the same thing. So I would just leave the tribe alone and do everything that I can to protect their isolation. I think that it is for their benefit, not ours.

I would leave them alone and do everything I can to protect their isolation. Immediate and sudden exposure to the technology, which would appear as magic to them, and the cultures of the world could result in a destabilization of their civilization as many of their beliefs would be thrown into question and they would be forced to adapt to the modern world. However, it is also possible that such exposure could result in a huge amount of benefits for this culture and the benefits of modern medicine and technology must be weighed against whether they would be able to thrive as a people among the current nation states of the world. In addition, it may in fact be cruel to expose them to the world, since they would now be dependent on aid to receive the supplies, luxuries and technology which they may, like other cultures -even ours- grow to depend upon. They would likely be unable to compete in any sort of market and thus be reduced to poverty. Their standards of living would be drastically reduced as such it is my responsibility to ensure that their way of life is not destroyed

I would leave the tribe alone because who knows how long they've been living like this and you wouldn't ant to disrupt their life styles or pattern in the way they live. No telling how they would act either, they could be extremely hostile or possibly open to the idea of learning about the modern day. Also if you were to go to the tribe you wouldn't know how they would adapt to the modern society and lifestyle changes and doing this you have possibly changed their ways of belief or lifestyle which can have a good or bad outcome. All in all it would be much easier if you just left the tribe alone.

I would leave them alone because bringing them out of their isolation would bring them into a culture shock and would ultimately destroy their way of life forever

I would leave the tribe alone because how ever long they have been there they have survived. If we showed them all of our technolgoy and culture we wouldn't know how they would respond to it. If their culture is different then ours people may force them to change. If we showed them all of our technology and culture they might also become violent because they would not know wat it is. I would try to make sure that people do not disturb this tribe.

i would find a place to land my plane and introduce them to the modern world, beause you dont really know if they're ok maybe they barely have something to eat or maybe somebody is very sick there and needs help and you could help them or atleast bring help, besides if i leave them alone some one eventually will find them and they probably wont be nice to them, they'd probably kill them or capture them and sell them.

If i were an anthropologist and just discovered a tribe while flying over the Amazon Rainforest i would leave it alone. Trying to teach the tribe about new technology would overwhelm them. everyone has there own culture and way of life and most likely doesnt want it disturbed. you have to put your self in there shoes, would you want to be bombared my people who want you to adapt to there culture and just forget about your beliefs? No! If the civilization has done fine without the help of the ouside world then oviously are assistance is not needed. my responceability would be to protect this tribe and keep them remote from any goverment or control that is trying to make them change there culture.

i would land my plane in the Amazon because waht if the tribe needs help ? Maybe they have a deathly disease that is spreading through there whole entire tribe and need to be saved because they cant find an antidote. Or maybe they are running out of food. After all these years of isolation from the world its finally time for them to be known. We would get a lot of benefits from exposing them. This tribe could have cures for diseases that we only have treatments for. Or some kind of technology that we want to use. It would benefit us a lot.

I would leave the tribe alone because it would take them a while for them to get used to technology and i believe that it would ruin their culture. This could have a huge effect on them. If you were in a tribe that has been isolated from modern times for as long as they have and they are still existing today, that means that they are fine on their own and they do not need any help with modern day technology. It would only hurt them if you show them modern day technology

I would not disturb the tribe and do what i can to protect their isolation. If these people are still living with primitive technology while the modern world is popping up all around then I'd say they're doing a pretty good job. Exposing them to our advances such as weapons and tools could lead to violence and crime within their group as well as with neighbor tribes and eventually destroy culture they lived within before they were disturbed

I would leave the tib alone and let them continue with there way of life and pretend that I never saw them. I would do this because they may prefer thier way of life and i would not want them to be forced to live in our society because alot of people begin to look for them and start to interupt thier way of life. They have a right to thier own way of life and culture and should not have to be forced to live in a different society. Them entering our society might be difficult because it would take alot of time to adapt as well.I would try to help to avoid them from being found and let them continue living the way they do.

Also you never know how they are going to react, they could be grateful that I'm trying to help them improve there way of life but they might also find it offensive and take action towards us. However, i would try to protect them in some way without them knowing such as checking on them once in a while. This is what i would do if i was an anthropologist and i just discovered a tribe while flying over the Amazon River.

I would leave the tribe alone. They are all together living on their own. My responsibility would be to watch and observe them from a distance, and make sure no outside sources would hurt them. I would record what I saw and go back frequently to see if there were any changes. If they have never had any outside contact with modern humans, then that may change everything for them. Their culture could be severly tampered with if anyone were to step in and disrupt them.

I would leave the tribe alone and try to protect them! They as a tribe are surviving one there own with out the help of technology. If thats the way the want to live then thats how they should! they have been living there for as long as they have then why should we disrupt them! i also wouldnt want to confront them beacuse i really dont know what they would do if i came into their territory. for example, i dont no if they will kill me or accept me. If i was killed then no one would ever no about this tribe or someone will find them and present the tribe to the public and not let them live in peace. And in a way they are lucky to be there own civilization.

I would leave the tribe alone because i don't know how they would act about seeing me because they could be dangerous and maybe hurt me. Also the tribe should be doing fine by themselves because they have been by them self all this time. They can be very different from us and not need our help. We shouldn't have to make them change the way they live, in other words they shouldn't have to change their lifestyle. If another tribe saw us, we wouldn't want them to change our lifestyle. It's their decision on how they want to live their life.
